Counseling
The Community Services Center is one of the few sources for western-style counseling in Taiwan and we provide counseling to individuals, couples and families living in the greater Taipei area. We are also opening an office in Hsinchu in 2011. Counselors address a wide range of issues from cultural adjustment, relationship issues, depression, substance abuse and anxiety. We also provide support for psychiatric conditions. In addition, Center counselors respond to crisis situations in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On an annual basis the counseling staff provide over 2000 counseling sessions to community members ranging in age from children to adults.
The counseling team consists of eight counselors; all of whom are western trained and hold at least a Masters degree in their field. All of our counselors have gained significant clinical experience prior to working at The Center and many have well over ten years experience. They are a skilled and diverse group including social workers and marriage and family therapists. This diversity of skill and background enables the counselors at The Center to respond to a wide variety of needs. Counseling services are also provided in several languages, including English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese. Although there are no psychiatrists on the Center staff, our counselors work closely with psychiatrists in the community if outside referral is required. Client confidentiality is of the utmost importance and although The Center is a multi-purpose facility, confidentiality of counseling clients is maintained at all times. All counselors are bound by their professional codes of ethics and ensure that all client information is kept strictly confidential. Center staff receive ongoing training on confidentiality to promote comfort and ease of access to services for all clients.
