Leland Lee was diagnosed with autism before he was two years old.
Experts informed his family that Leland would never be able to function
within society nor be able to communicate with others. Well, through the
help of one determined mother, Leland’s family, countless friends, doctors,
interventions, Leland learned to walk, talk, swim, enjoy and play a musical
instrument and paint.
It is through Leland’s painting that he communicates with the world. He expresses
his thoughts on canvas using vivid, bold colors and images. He has been hailed as
a world class artist with autism and recently was in Rome, to meet with Pope Francis
at an international conference on autism and to exhibit his paintings at the Vatican.
