Acupuncture and moxibustion have played an important health care role in Chinese society for over 4000 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a product of observing nature and direct experience. Before there were codified systems of medicinal practice, people would instinctively hit or massage an afflicted area to feel better. Over many generations these areas or “points” became more clearly identified, and over time, research and training methods developed and refined. In this century, these two main methods of TCM have received an increasing amount of international recognition and are used to treat a variety of medical conditions including pain relief, eliminating inflammation and swelling, organ function enhancement and calming of the nervous system, among many other things. In many western countries acupuncture is most often used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Have you been curious about trying acupuncture as a possible treatment but didn't know if it might be the right choice for you? Would you like to know how it works? Is it safe? Does it hurt? Then join this informative class with Dr. Wu and learn everything you may have always wanted to know about acupuncture but didn't know who to ask.
