The Center has been given the opportunity to offer a special English-guided tour at the National Palace Museum. On December 10th, join seasoned tour guide Margaret Lo for a special in-depth look at jade, the ornamental mineral whose beauty is a 8,000-year aesthetic experience shared by all Chinese. We will begin in the Museum’s permanent collection for an overview of jade’s development as decorative art throughout Chinese history, then proceed to “Betwixt Reality and Illusion: Special Exhibition of Jades from the Warring States Period to the Han Dynasty." In this exhibition 212 specially-selected jade artifacts are presented, including 114 works from the former collections of the Qing Court and 98 newly acquired works. Under guidance from Margaret, we will be able to experience the long-forgotten illusory art of the jades on display and explore the ingenuity of the original creators with our own eyes. Entrance to the Museum and headset rental is included. After the tour all are welcomed to stay on and visit other areas of the Museum at your leisure.
