Film Photography: Using an Analog Camera to Capture Scenic Taipei: Beitou and Its Hotsprings

This unique photography class will teach you about analogue film cameras while being guided through Taipei’s mountainous district known for its hot springs, natural green spaces and Japanese colonial history. Naomi and Min will start the class at a local cafe where they will introduce you to the cameras and how to operate them. They will provide you with a 35mm camera to use and one roll of film to shoot. You will then have time to appreciate the slow photo process and take photographs on 35mm film as the group visits several interesting locations in the area including Xinbeitou Historic Station, the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Beitou Library, Thermal Valley, and Puji Temple. After the class, your instructors will develop and email the images to you; negatives will be delivered to the Center for your collection. You may choose to order prints for a small additional fee. Cost of film, developing, and a beverage at the café are included.
