Due to concerns for COVID-19, Taipei City's mayor has cancelled the official Lunar New Year Market Festival, which is the usual focus of this tour. What this means is that the extra vendors, additional stalls, and entertainment, etc., will not be there on the day of our visit. This change does not affect shopping in this historic area for holiday treats and foods, it just means that the crowds will be reduced and the "festival" atmosphere will not be the same. We are going ahead and still offering this tour, which will follow the same route and will still be an informative and fun activity, highlighting special festival foods, treats and traditions of the holiday. The Di Hua Street vendors will be taking a financial hit as a result of the festival's cancellation, so our group still going and shopping there allows us, in our own small way, to still support these small businesses in this historic area of Taipei.
