Chinese Knotting

ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN ON AUGUST 7TH.

The art of Chinese knotting is thousands of years old and was passed down from generation to generation of Chinese women. It is highly decorative and used to adorn the clothes, jewelry, furniture and musical instruments of all classes of people from rich to poor. Beautiful knot work could be seen everywhere, especially at festivals and weddings. The designs of the knots were fashioned after symbols of happiness, longevity, prosperity and Buddhist treasures to name just a few. The knots, when combined with beautiful beads, create jewelry and home decorations that are surprisingly up-to-date for such an ancient craft. Join Nancy in this three-session class to learn three different types of knots and make your own beautiful pieces of jewelry, plus one wall hanging: double coin, double connection, and good luck knot. All materials included.

Class dates: September 17, 24; October 1.

Instructor: Nancy Liu
