In Chinese mythology, the dragon symbolizes protection, goodness, valiancy, nobility, boldness, perseverance, energy and divinity. In this playful yin and yang yoga course, we will explore our dragon qualities and virtues through pranayama (breath work), guided meditation and asana (posture) practice with a focus on hips and legs. Yang yoga focuses on active vinyasa flow and strength-building asanas. Yin yoga focuses on passive and longer-held restorative and fascia-focused asanas. The class will emphasize safety, proper alignment, connection of breath to movement, and stress reduction. By embodying dragon qualities, participants can cultivate self-empowerment, self-care techniques, and a deeper body-mind-spirit connection. Bring your yoga mat, a large and small towel, two foam blocks, yoga strap, and a curious heart. Please contact instructor in case of any health imbalance to assess suitability. All levels welcome.
Class meets on September 25; October 2, 9, 16, 30; November 6, 13; December 4.
