This hike was in such demand last fall that we are offering it again this semester! This is a lovely 5km hike through the forest to see three beautiful waterfalls. The trail itself is along dirt paths. There are two rope bridges that we will need to cross, 1-2 people at a time (don’t worry, it’s not high up!!). We will admire the first waterfall (Hegu Waterfall) from a distance. The second waterfall (Motian Waterfall) has a viewing platform and sometimes you will see people swimming in the pool under the falls. For those looking for a bit more adventure, we can climb up (about 5 minutes) to the top of the second waterfall and stand almost behind the waterfall. The climb to the third waterfall has some steep steps with some ropes for climbing. It's very safe but one should have a good head for heights. The third waterfall (Pipa Cave Waterfall) is where we will stop for a short snack break before heading back along the same trail we came on. For a regular and fit hiker, this is a moderately strenuous hike; for a beginner it could be challenging. Wear sturdy shoes with a good grip; bring your Easy Card for the train; water and lunch to eat on the train ride back; plus rain/sun protection as needed.
