Sky Lanterns, Waterfalls and Old Streets: A Visit to the Villages of Pingxi Township

The first stop on this fun tour is the beautiful Shifen Waterfall, the widest in Taiwan. It’s a great place to take some striking photos. From there we will go to the quaint Shifen Village, part of the greater area Pingxi township, famous for its annual sky lantern festival. In Shifen you may choose to send off a sky lantern (at your own cost) or use the time to look around the village and shop. After Shifen, we will visit another nearby village famous for its stinky tofu. If you've never tried it, maybe this will be your chance! If stinky tofu is not your thing, there are other local treats to try and shops to visit. For lunch, there are several options, depending upon what appeals. There are some small eateries and restaurants, places to buy snacks and munch as you go, or you may bring your own lunch to eat on the bus in between our various stops along the way. After lots of walking, browsing and eating we will be ready for the bus ride back to Taipei.
