Film Photography: Using an Analog Camera to Capture Scenic Taipei: Dadaocheng Harbor Area at Sunset

This unique photography class introduces you to analogue film cameras while being guided through one of Taipei’s famous old districts during "golden hour," and the opportunity to capture Taipei’s riverside at sunset. In photography, the "golden hour" is the period of daytime shortly before sunset, when the daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. We will begin at Minim Photographic Studio where Naomi and Min will give you a roll of film and teach you how to load and operate a 35mm camera. Then, we will have time to appreciate the slow photo process as we visit interesting locations along Di Hua Street, learning a little about the history of the area, as we make our way to Dadaocheng Wharf to admire and photograph the sunset from the riverside. After the class, your instructors will develop and email the images to you; negatives will be delivered to the Center for your collection. You may choose to order prints for a small additional fee. Cost of film and developing included.

Instructor: Naomi Goddard and Minsik Jung
