during a visit to his wife’s family home, in a countryside township
of Chiayi Country, one Chinese New Year.
This area of Cigu, in southern Taiwan is well-known to locals because
of Cigu Salt Mountain and the Salt Museum. Up until 2002, when
the salt industry officially ended in Taiwan, the Cigu Salt Mountain was
the final drying place of most of the salt at the Cigu Saltern.
